May 31st, 2017 — North Coast Music Festival (NCMF) is thrilled to reveal 2017’s surprise headliner as well as an esteemed collection of additional acts set to perform throughout the weekend!
This year, LES CLAYPOOL returns to North Coast with his iconic funk band PRIMUS, bringing their historic creations and soul-piercing energy to perform a headlining set on Sunday, September 3. Known worldwide for their decades of boundary-shattering live creations and irreverent, quirky approach to songwriting, Primus’s appearance at NCMF comes as a precursor to the group’s upcoming ninth studio album set to release in 2017.
Also added to this year’s roster will be none other than up-and-coming bass music duo GANJA WHITE NIGHT on Sunday, September 3, bringing with them the twisted, snarling dubstep chaos expected of the seasoned Belgian pair. The most recent addition to their stacked collection of eight studio albums Mr. Wobble saw the two elevate their style into a reggae-tinted, hybrid variant of the heavy, rumbling sound responsible for their rise to fame.
The Brooklyn-by-way-of-Canada duo BOB MOSES is set to bring the heat to NCMF on Sunday, September 3, “occupying the fertile ground between organic band land and an all-electronic production project!” The soulful pair was recently nominated for a Grammy Award for “Tearing Me Up,” the lead track from their debut album Days Gone By, which was remixed by RAC and recognized with another Grammy win. Their unique, dreamy vocal styles, combined with an expertly refined bassy core, has led them to perform at some of the world’s most esteemed festivals, along with features on notable outlets such as BBC Radio 1.
The final act joining this year’s roster is Chicago’s live electronic trio AUTOGRAF, making their first hometown festival appearance since last year’s Spring Awakening. The group’s acclaimed strain of joyful, future-centered house swayers have catapulted them into the highest echelons of international recognition, proven by their recent “Nobody Knows” international tour. Coming off the heels of their newest single “Simple” featuring Victoria Zaro and production assistance from none other than The Chainsmokers, Autograf’s NCMF stop on Friday, September 1 will be the perfect “welcome home” party for their dedicated fans.
The new acts revealed today join an incredible roster of talent at North Coast from September 1 – 3, including electronic icons DEADMAU5 and ERIC PRYDZ, trap god GUCCI MANE, reggae prodigy DAMIAN “JR. GONG” MARLEY, instrumental electronic rock ensemble SOUND TRIBE SECTOR 9 (STS9), champion of wild bass heaters CARNAGE, eclectic alt-rock heroes WEEN, noteworthy electronic composer TIPPER, and many more.
Stay tuned for additional announcements, including North Coast’s final surprise artist, painters for the heralded Live Graffiti Area and the DJ lineup for the Silent Disco and the House Dome, which will be revealed over the coming weeks!
